And the walls came down......

Hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas....I enjoyed mine immensely!!! I spent lots of time with family and some scrumptious food.

My Christmas gift from my husband was to tear a partial wall down that stood between our kitchen and dinning room.....this wall has been an issue with me ever since we moved into this house 8 years ago. We live in an old farm house and the rooms where very small and boxy and that just doesn't work for us. Whenever we would entertain, I always felt out of it or we where trying to cram 6 people into a kitchen that really only has room for 1 or 2. Because it is a load bearing wall, it was a project he was dreading. He had vacation days to use, so we thought it would be a perfect time to tackle this job.

Before....

I love him so much!!!! :)

There's still painting to do, sealing the top and getting several outlet covers, some bar stools are needed, but I LOVE IT!!!!!

More Christmas Decor

So I know that I said I would be back to post "this week end", well that didn't happen, obviously. I am trying to enjoy this wonderful time of the year, but it is going by WAY TOOOOOO Fast!!

Today was a snow day here. The fireplace is on, the candles are lite and the coffee is oh so good with alittle bit of eggnog creamer and my kids are home from school, I am enjoying my day!!!!

I thought that I would post several decor pictures from around the house.

The dining room tree, very simple with lights, dried oranges and cinnamon sticks. An arrangement right outside our front door

Tree in the master bathroom....if you look closely you can see the snow stacking up on the window.

My old grain scoop....

My fireplace mantel in our bedroom....minus the fireplace.

My old railroad lantern....

The entry....
Have a wonderful evening!!!!

I am busy painting. I will post pictures sometime soon, I'm trying to play with different ways to edit those pictures and I'm struggling alittle bit on getting them onto my blog. When it comes to computers, they frustrate me!! So if anyone has suggestions that are kinda simple, please help me!!!
This is one of the rooms that I've been working on.....

Have a wonderful week!!!

Paint, Paint & more Paint

I have been inspired to paint..... and my subject has been the laundry room.

This is what it looked like before.....very primitive colors.

Several weeks ago, I painted the trim white. Looked better, but was still not what I wanted,it was still too dark. I wanted light, bright and airy, so yesterday, while it was raining and feeling very fallish, I grabbed my paint brush and roller and got busy.
The paint color is called Khaki Shorts from ACE Hardware
A few fall touches
Next is the master bathroom....this is what it now looks like. I haven't found one that I like. I want a gray with a very light touch of blue in it, but still want it to be light. Any suggestions??
Have a wonderful day!

Its a chilly, cloudy day here and is feeling very fallish.....Oh what a wonderful time of year. One of my favorite!!!!!!

One thing on my wish list has been a coffee table for the living room and so when my husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday, I knew that it was my chance, but there was a catch...I wanted it made out of some old wood from the shed. He kept telling me it would be so much easier if he could just go buy some new lumber, but I insisted.
After several hours this is what he created. I LOVE IT!!!!

The lantern is an old Railroad lantern, that was a birthday gift from my mother.

Thanks for stopping and have a wonderful, relaxing week end!!!

School and Curtains

SO this week school started for us.....sigh. Hailey is in 2nd grade and Jace is in preschool three mornings a week. Where has the time gone???? I thought I had awhile until this day would come, I know Jace is only in preschool, but still, it has come way to fast.
School is going well for both of them and they are up in the morning ready to go before its time to leave. I am praying that continues all year. This year we started a new routine and our mornings are going so much better and we are not rushed in morning like previous years.

Hailey has been wanting new curtains for awhile now and so while I was killing some time while Jace was at school, I stopped in at Joann Fabrics and browsed. I found some cute striped fabric that I thought would go well with her room colors. She has green and pink circles on her walls, pink bedding with circles, so I thought that the stripes might add some nice contrast.

Here is what was on her windows before, kinda plain
(I hate window air conditioners!!!)

I made just a simple valance and kept the sheer curtains under the valances. (she wanted me to take a picture of this window since the other window was ugly with the air cond. in it. She is very much like her mom) I need to hack off some of the rod, its a tad long.Little miss princess all snuggled in her bed. She was thrilled with the change.

Thanks for stopping and have a wonderful week end!

Treasure Hunt

Usually on Sunday evenings we will take a walk up our drive way, which is a half mile long, and water the beef cows and visit with Mike's grandparents, who live up the drive. On our way back last night we took a detour into the farm shop and I found some great treasures..

This great crate, which will make a great place for storage. Not sure if you can see it or not, but it says Wooster Farm, not sure what that means but hope to find out where it came from

This galvanized pail. I have an obsession with galvanized buckets!!! I have great plans for it.

This old window frame and a couple of nights earlier, my dear husband brought me the small scoop on the left.

It is so much fun to decorate with all of those great things that I find on the farm.

Have a wonderful day

My favorite piece!!

I thought that today I would show you one of my favorite pieces in our house.....
This bottom piece was in our basement when we moved in....
This top piece was in my in-laws garage being used as...you ready for this...a catch all and tool box!!!!! So for Christmas that year I asked for that piece and voila...it now sits in my kitchen!!! It has several paint splatters and some day maybe I will redo it, but for now I am enjoying it just as it is.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your week end.

Kitchen

So when we moved into our house 8 years ago, the kitchen was in some need of TLC!!!! The cabinets where second hand when they where put in years before we ever moved in, so I have been doing several small things to make them look alittle better until we do a major kitchen reno.
Painted them white and added new hardware.
Added new lighting, which I put up all by myself........

and made some roman shades.
