Manners on Vacation

Tonight Hailey was not being very mannerly and so I asked her where her manners where and she whipped out that "My manners went on vacation to Egypt and she called them and they wouldn't come back." Hope they find here way back real soon.

In Daddy's Shoes

Hailey and Jace trying on their daddy's boots that came up to their thighs. :)
This past week end we spent alot of time in Apple Creek for the Johnny Appleseed days. There where several things that our church was in charge of so we spent time there working.

Mike goes to the Dr. tomorrow for a check up. Hopefully the cast can come off and stay off. He's been doing good and has been able to go to work, but gets kinda frustrated not being able to use his right hand.

Awesome!!!!!

Today on our way home the kids and I where having a conversation about when we will go to heaven. I told them that we don't know we just need to always be ready and one question kept leading to more questions and by the end of the conversation both Hailey and Jace wanted to make sure that they where going to heaven to be with Jesus and so they asked Jesus into their heart. What a wonderful experience for me as a parent. Gives me goose bumps just to type this.

Slip-n-slide

Today my mom had us over for a very yummy lunch and then after lunch she got the slip and slide out for the kids. They had so much fun playing with the water.

Alittle of our week.

Wednesday night with the youth group we where at Putt-n-Stuff.

Mike trying to golf with his left hand. I'm not a very good golfer and so after the first 3 holes we decided not to keep score anymore.

This week we went to my brother's to pick out two kittens for Hailey and Jace. They are cute, but every kitten turns into a cat, but we live on a farm and every farm needs some cats. Now if we can just get the dog to leave them alone. Jace's kitten's name is Lightening McQueen and Hailey's is Lexi.

Pain,Pain, Pain!!!

are the words that Mike would use to describe how he feels right now. The last 24 hours have been kinda long and not the most comfortable. The pain meds that they gave him at the hospital and his prescription have been making him sick and haven't been touching the pain alot, so they changed his meds and its helping with the pain more he just says he can't take it soon enough. He thinks 4 hours is a long time between. :) Last night he had lots of pain and couldn't get comfy, he was either tossing around in bed or up walking around or moving from the living room back to bed, bed back to living room. He's so tired but can't get sleep in lengths of more than an hour at a time. Just pray for him, for tolerance of this pain, and for patients while his elbow is healing. Also understanding for Hailey and Jace. They have been doing so good with it, but they are ready for Daddy to get back to his goofy self.

Post Surgery

Mike's surgery went well this morning, the bone that was actually broken is healing good and the piece that was floating around was more cartilage than bone so they where not able to reattach because what little bone was there would just shatter if they tried to screw back to the main bone, so they just removed it. Now if we can just get his stomach to handle the pain meds. Ever since surgery he has had a queasy stomach. We finally arrived home around 1:30. As far as recovery he's supposed to take it easy for two weeks and then in 14 days we will have a follow with the Dr and then will start moving it more after that. Glad its over.

Just want to say thanks to our wonderful Pastor Duane, who suprised us by showing up this morning just to see how we where doing and pray with us. WOW, it was a minor surgery, but we felt so cared for. Thanks Duane.

Surgery

So in case your wondering, results from Mike's CAT scan last week resulted in him having to have surgery, which is this morning. They came and got him about 20 minutes ago and said it should take about an hour and half to two hours. They aren't sure yet what they will have to do until they start surgery and see whats going on in there. So I don't know much yet but I'm trying to wait patiently :) I know its only a minor surgery but I am still alittle apprehensive. Not sure what recovery will be yet also, like I said just depends on what they find.

Parade

Last night was Orrville's parade to kick off the festival in town, so off we went. The kids loved seeing all the different things go through from the fire trucks, horses, big trucks, Buehlers over sized shopping cart and of course Audrey's Attic (which was the best float by the way:). to the ones we knew, Country Fresh and Yoder Builders, Ventrac etc. We waited for about 45 minutes before it started and the kids did super waiting. They got lots of candy and we had to throw away what was left from last years parade.

Update on Mike.

Mike had a Dr. appointment on Monday and the Dr. was not OK with all the swelling that was still in Mike's elbow, so he refereed him to a specialist. He saw the specialist this morning and he said that the break is border line OK, meaning that it should be OK without surgery, but his other bone in his elbow has piece missing out of it and is floating around in there, so he did a CAT scan today and we will find out the results on Monday, weather they will let it go or do surgery. Who would have thought that a little skateboard could cause so much drama??
