Feed Bags...

I remember going to my grandma's house and she had these "feed bags" that she had made out of material and stuff with corn, beans etc. so I decided that Jace needed some for his farm, so this morning after dropping Hailey at school we came home and made our feed bags. I sewed them out of old jeans and stuffed them with rice. Jace and I had a fun time and then off course we had to set up the farm. Jace is pretty pleased with his feed bags.

First Grade..

So yesterday was Hailey's first day of school......many emotions. Hailey was so excited and well I had a hard time sharing in her excitement. I am so grateful that she loves going and learning and for the good teacher that she has, but its so hard letting her go!!!
She was up and ready to go by 8:00 and could hardly keep from smiling. After making her eat some breakfast, an egg, we where off. When we got to school she walked right in. Jace on the other hand was still wondering where his class was??? He was alittle upset when I picked him and carried him out while telling him that he would not have a class there this year. It was a very long day for Jace and Mommy yesterday and Jace kept asking "when can we go get Hailey?" When we finally could go get her, he fell asleep. Hailey was tired and hungry, but had a wonderful first day of first grade. She was in bed and sleeping by 7:30.

Meet the Teacher

Jace wishing he could go to school. He kept asking who his teacher was?? Sorry boy not for another year.

Hailey with Mikayla-one of her friends from last years class and from church.
Hailey at her desk.

Hailey with her teachers- Mrs. Bertsch and Miss Patterson. Miss Patterson is doing student teaching this fall in Hailey's class.

So last night was meet the teacher night at Hailey's school. I guess that I finally have to say that she is officially a first grader:( She was so excited, all day yesterday she kept asking how many more hours until she gets to meet her teacher and once we got there she said that she was just going to stay in her class until Monday morning and that if she needed anything to eat her class is right beside the cafeteria :)

Week End

So there has been alot happening this past week end and the beginning of this week. Saturday was consumed with us trying to get ready for a youth mission meal on Sunday. We set up a big white tent in the church parking, had a big grill and grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, had a soft serve ice cream machine. This is a fundraiser that the youth do to help raise funds for our mission trips in the summer. It was a great success, thanks to all the wonderful people help us set up, serve and tear it all back down.
Also Saturday evening, all of Mike's aunts and uncles, cousins where at our house for a cook out. There where probably 30 people here. It was a great time getting to catch up on life with them.

Monday afternoon, my mother-in-law, sister-in-law and the kids and I headed for Indiana. Dianne (my sister in law) lives there and had been home for the week end, so we took her back and then came back home this evening. It was a fast trip but a good one. The kids did super with all the traveling.

Tomorrow I get to do corn. I hate doing it, but we sure do love to eat it in the winter months.

School Shopping

Tonight I went and did the dreaded thing....School Shopping. I can't believe we are at this point in the summer, I'm not ready to send my little girl back to school. I have enjoyed and loved the time that we have been able to spend together over the summer.

She wanted to go to Target and get her supplies, (She loves Target) and then she got to pick where we went for supper and she picked Panera Bread. Some days she says she's not ready to go back to school yet and some days she can't wait. I think she is ready to learn some more new things (she thrives on learning) and getting back into a routine, but she has enjoyed being at home with no real set bedtime and being able to sleep in and play all day with her brother. I plan on enjoying my last week of summer with Hailey.

Colorado-Sunday & Monday

Mike and Jace sitting on the throne at whits end.

On Sunday night we went to my Aunt's house and she had locked her keys in her house so Mike had to crawl in through the kitchen window.
Because you have to drive so far to get anywhere in CO, we had to make a pit stop for Jace.

On Sunday we went to alittle park that has water spraying up, the kids had fun running through it.
Sunday was Mike's Birthday, so we went to Texas Roadhouse to celebrate.
We had such a wonderful, relaxing vacation. It was so good just to get away and spend time together as a family.
We are finally ALL home now. Mike got to Akron-Canton Airport this morning at 11:00. It was a wild and crazy 20 hours. Hailey and Jace where freaking alittle last night when we got home and the reality struck them that daddy was not home with us. They where pretty concerened and where excited when they saw him this morning. Oh the memories we have now.

We're Home...Well Kinda....

Hailey, Jace and I made home tonight, but well Mike didn't quite make it. Long story, but we called the airport before we left for the airport to make sure our plane was on time and well it wasn't. They said it was running 30 minutes late. When we got to the airport, Mike dropped us off and went to return the vehicle to storage. The kids and I checked in, got through security and made it to our gate only to realize that they where running on time. I waited until the very last moment to board and Mike was not at the gate yet, close but yet so far away. He was so very close, he missed the plane by a mere 3 minutes. So he is spending the night in Detroit, MI @ the airport awaiting a flight out of there in the morning. What a way to end our wonderful vacation:) I will post about Sunday and today, tomorrow. I am tired and going to bed.

Colorado-Saturday

We didn't do alot today except just hang out here at the house, just preparing ourselves for the next couple of days that are kinda packed full, but should be lots of fun.
Today we just relaxed, played games, played in the dirt some more and to end our day, our usual, the hot tub.

Colorado-Friday

Another beautiful scene from Colorado. Colorado is such a beautiful state.
Heading inside after another great day outdoors and playing in the dirt.
This is a bear that is by the door and everytime we go outside or leave he tells us that his pet bear is coming with us.
He was so tired on the way home from lunch, that he was trying to get a comfy position. This didn't look very comfy, but he said it was.

While Jace was waiting on his food, he was trying to entertain himself, so he decided to act like a puppy.
Playing in the dirt.

Hailey was creating a fairy garden. She went and got different kinds of flowers and then had a little play dragonfly in the middle of it all.

This morning Jace put the puzzel together and then was driving the train. He wants to be a choo-choo driver when he gets big.

Colorado-Thursday

Jace fell asleep this way after his long hard day of bowling, exploring the town of Westcliff, hot tub and hanging out with his family. We have been getting to bed late and he has been getting up early and today he did not have a nap.

Today we went bowling and we had so much fun. Hailey really go the hang of it this time and did a really good job at it.

Colorado-Wednesday

Hailey trying to rub two sticks together to make a fire. :)
Mike playing play station.

Taking a hike.

Today we just spent the day here at the cabin. Slept in and then had breakfast and just enjoyed our day. We went on a hike and enjoyed the beautiful outdoors and then enjoyed the hot tube. O I love Colorado!!!

Colorado-Tuesday

This deer came right up to the basement door and just stood there and stared at us until Jace tried to scare it away.
Hailey helping her daddy play pool.

Jace was so excited about the plane ride. This is the first flight that he would remember.

We left our house at 3:45am for Colorado yesterday morning. We had to change planes in Atlanta, but other than that we had a very good flight. Hailey and Jace did so good, for getting up that early. Since we got here we haven't been doing alot except just chill. We are enjoying the fact that we have no schedule and no responsibilities other than just our family for a little while.
