Treasure Hunt

Usually on Sunday evenings we will take a walk up our drive way, which is a half mile long, and water the beef cows and visit with Mike's grandparents, who live up the drive. On our way back last night we took a detour into the farm shop and I found some great treasures..

This great crate, which will make a great place for storage. Not sure if you can see it or not, but it says Wooster Farm, not sure what that means but hope to find out where it came from

This galvanized pail. I have an obsession with galvanized buckets!!! I have great plans for it.

This old window frame and a couple of nights earlier, my dear husband brought me the small scoop on the left.

It is so much fun to decorate with all of those great things that I find on the farm.

Have a wonderful day

My favorite piece!!

I thought that today I would show you one of my favorite pieces in our house.....
This bottom piece was in our basement when we moved in....
This top piece was in my in-laws garage being used as...you ready for this...a catch all and tool box!!!!! So for Christmas that year I asked for that piece and voila...it now sits in my kitchen!!! It has several paint splatters and some day maybe I will redo it, but for now I am enjoying it just as it is.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your week end.

Kitchen

So when we moved into our house 8 years ago, the kitchen was in some need of TLC!!!! The cabinets where second hand when they where put in years before we ever moved in, so I have been doing several small things to make them look alittle better until we do a major kitchen reno.
Painted them white and added new hardware.
Added new lighting, which I put up all by myself........

and made some roman shades.

Laundry Room Makeover

The laundry room was part of our addition several years ago, and while I love the size of it and the fact that it is right off the garage and the door can be closed when its a total disaster, but the decor and the colors have been my struggle. It just hasn't come together for me. The other day when I was standing in there trying to get an inspiration, I decided to try painting the trim white. It used to be a brownstone color and made it made the whole room dark, so Thursday (while I was supposed to be getting my stuff ready for camping) instead I got the white paint bucket out and started painting. I can't believe the difference it made by just painting the trim. It's so much lighter in there. The wall color is still mustard and maybe someday soon I will paint it a blue/gray color but for know I will enjoy the change.

Once I was done painting I decided that between the outside door and the window I needed alittle shelf or hooks of some sort, so I sent Mike out to see what he could find in one of the sheds on this farm and this is what he came back with. He thought it looked like something I would like.
The hooks come out of a closet that was upstairs.
Here is the finished product.
Total cost=absolutely free. Aren't those the best.

Family Camping

This week end we went camping with my family. It is very rustic, no running water, no electricity, way back in the woods at my parents farm. I think it lots of fun, my husband would not agree with me on this. He is not a big camper anyway, but the kids and I where looking forward to it. I mean how could you not be excited when you know this is what's ahead.

Mud, Oh Glorious Mud. He was so in his glory. And where done!!!!

Sweet Little Brooklyn enjoying her first camping experience.
A good game of rook to pass a beautiful sunny Saturday.

So tired after a fun morning and afternoon of playing in the mud, and the creek.

Look Out

I have a paintbrush and a bucket of white paint and sand paper. I've been told that's dangerous when I get in these moods, but I think its oh so much fun. I am currently changing my decorating style from the primitive, dark colors to a more bright and airy feeling. This table is in my entry way and was black, so yesterday I hauled it out to the garage for a makeover.

Beautiful Gardens

I thought that I would show all of you my mother's wonderful, and absolutely beautiful gardens.

Her vegetable garden....

My pictures that I took of this didn't turn out the greatest, but I love this little spot in her garden. Its a very rustic pergola, but is so adorable. Her grapes have grown up over the top and shade you from the sun, no one can see you from the road here. They have an old fireplace there and table and we have enjoyed several breakfast's there and then in the evenings when we get together, there are lights up. It is just so calm and relaxing there. ( I will try and take better pics sometime of this outdoor dinning space).
O to be a bird there. They have the coolest places to stay and so many to choose from!

When the sun goes down, there are several of these to light your path.
The pond

Her front porch. The hydrangea's are gorgeous

The back entrance. It enters what used to be a milk house.
And then to there's always the fire pit that we spend time around. I am never really ready to leave the "piece of Heaven". It is so calm and relaxing there!!!! She spends many hours out there and this is one of her loves and talents. The pictures don't do it justice, but I hope that you enjoyed the little tour of this beautiful place.
Happy Summmer!!!

Hydrangea's

Oh how I love thee......
These have to be one of my fav flowers. This bush was here when we moved in 8 years ago and I love it so much!!!!! Every year it has these absolutely gorgeous huge flowers on it. By mid summer there are so many blooms that it is dragging on the ground.
Some by my bed

and on my dinning room table
I kinda got rained out when I was out cutting them this morning, but will cut more for my bathroom and foyer table.
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to stop and enjoy all the flowers that are blooming wherever you are. Have a wonderful day!!!!

Summer

Let summer begin....Oh wait it has and it has begun with a bang!!!!!

Hailey and Jace excited about summer break starting.

This summer we have an "extra" kid :) Diamond, who is staying with us for 6 weeks this summer. She stays with my aunt who is on a trip for these 6 weeks, who wondered if we would be open to having her stay with us. Honestly at first we weren't sure if this was an avenue that we wanted to go down this year, but you know God kept working at us and here we are. The last several years we have been on different mission trips with our church youth group and this year will not be going and so we felt that maybe this would be our summer "mission trip" without leaving our own home. It has been going extremely well and I think we are getting into a routine and adjusting to having another child with us. Hailey and Jace are enjoying having a big sister and think that when its time for her to go home we will all be sad.

The first week of summer the kids attended a Bible School of a local church. The church did an absolutely amazing job and the kids loved it so much. On Tuesday evening we celebrated my parents 37Th anniversary and we where going to have all the grand kids serve them. They where so torn as to what to do, they LOVE their grandparents but where having so much fun. They ended up going to Bible school and then Mike went and picked them up after Bible school we sat around the campfire and enjoyed dessert with my parents. Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad. Thank you for the wonderful, loving parents that you have been!!! I love you!!!!

My sister, Dawn, who is from Virginia, was also here last week for 10 days. It was so good to have her around and spend time with her. On Friday night all the ladies, my mother, my sister and her two children, my two sister-in-laws, Heather and her three girls and Jen, and me and my kids all camped out at my mom's house and then the next morning headed to Legacy Village. We had a good time doing alittle shopping (how much shopping can you do with that many kids)??? It was actually to celebrate my 30Th bday, which isn't until Aug, but because Dawn is from VA we celebrated while she was here in OH. Thank you so much for taking that time ladies, I had a really good time just being with you all.
